How My Nightingale works

My Nightingale measures 250 blood biomarkers and analyzes them with proprietary algorithms validated for Japanese people. The service reveals your risk of developing lifestyle-related diseases and provides advice on what you can do to reduce your risk.

Step 1

Comprehensive analysis of blood biomarkers

Nightingale’s technology utilizes NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) and proprietary software to deliver comprehensive, quantitative analysis of biomarkers in blood. The measurement accuracy is at a level that can be used in clinical practice in Europe (CE certified). The technology indicates the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes within 10 years. Nightingale’s proprietary algorithms are validated for Japanese people.

Step 2

Analysis of results with proprietary algorithms

Algorithms are developed based on the results of NMR analysis of large representative sample collection from a Finnish biobank and their disease history. The algorithms have been validated for Japanese individuals through collaboration with a biobank in Japan.

Step 3

Nightingale Health Score, disease risks and health indicators

In addition to revealing the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes within 10 years, we also provide a uniquely calculated overall Nightingale Health Score (40 to 100-point scale) reflecting diet, physical activity, sleep quality, and stress as well as five health indicators Heart Age, Diabetes Resistance, Cholesterol Balance, Fatty Acid Balance and Inflammation.

CVD risk

Cardiovascular disease risk represents how likely it is to develop cardiovascular diseases, such as cerebral infarction and myocardial infarction, within 10 years.

Risk of type 2 diabetes

Type 2 diabetes risk presents the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes within 10 years.

Step 4

Advice for actions to lower disease risks

The results of the five health indicators highlight the areas with possible problems or room for improvement. We then provide advice on specific actions you can take to enhance your health.
